Guitar Club in St Albans

Toby’s Guitar Club is an exciting club in St Albans where you can come together with others to play guitar in a relaxed and informal setting.

The great thing about Toby’s Guitar Club is that every technique or song we learn is split up into three levels of ability, meaning the club is suitable for adults of all ages and abilities, from beginners to experienced guitar players.

At Toby’s Guitar Club, you will meet and play with other like-minded people with a passion for guitar and music. Playing with others is one of the best and most fun ways to become a better guitarist.

Toby’s Guitar Club gets together every Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Wadley Scout Hut in St Albans. Bring your guitar along and join us!

Learn the Techniques

Learning and mastering techniques is an integral part of developing and improving your guitar playing, as you’ll be able to learn songs more quickly, more easily, and understand and appreciate music on a deeper level.

A part of every session at Toby’s Guitar Club is devoted to learning and developing a new technique. These techniques include chords, scales, fingerpicking, palm muting, rhythm reading, hammer-ons/pull-offs, string bends, ear training, improvisation, transposing, and a lot more.

Learn the Songs

Learning and playing songs is the reason why we all play the guitar. However, it can be a challenge to play a song all the way through (how many times have you just learned the intro to a song?). Playing a song from beginning to end with other people takes a lot of stamina and concentration. Fortunately, these are skills that can be developed and improved the more you practice them. One of the best ways to get really good at the guitar is to play songs with other people. At Toby’s Guitar Club, we will be learning and playing two songs every session. We will play the songs to the recordings, and every song will have three levels of difficulty, meaning you will always be able to play along.

Digital Resources using GDrive

In an effort to save paper, you are encouraged to bring along an iPad or a tablet to Toby’s Guitar Club. Toby will give you access to the Toby’s Guitar Club Resource GDrive Folder, which contains all the techniques and songs we cover.

This also gives you the advantage of being able to access the resources during the week, and you can even look ahead at the forthcoming week’s resources and get yourself ahead of the game.

You will also have access to the full speed, and slowed down mp3 backing tracks so you can practise during the week ahead of your next club meeting.

Play your chosen level

The great thing about Toby’s Guitar Club is that everything you will learn and play is split into three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. This means that if you’re a complete beginner you will be able to jump in and immediately start to play with everyone else, if you have some guitar experience you will be able to progress to the Intermediate level learning new ways to play chords, scales, and songs, and if you’re an advanced player with many years of experience you will still be stretched and challenged with the most advanced tabs and techniques.

The best thing is that everyone will be able to learn the same thing at the same time while progressing at their own pace.
